PORT WASHINGTON CHILDREN’S CENTER
ANNUAL FAMILY POTLUCK PICNIC A SUCESS!

Port Washington Children’s Center is pleased to welcome Matt Holzer,
our new AT LAST Sound Sailor Camp Director!
Matt Holzer is a lifelong resident of Port Washington and is thrilled to be a part of the AT LAST family. His interests include coaching football, basketball and baseball for the Port Washington schools, as well as playing the occasional pickup basketball game at Manorhaven Park. He is an 8th Grade Social Studies teacher at Weber and has been working at summer camps for the past 15 years. His wife, a teacher at Schreiber, is also from Port Washington. Matt is excited to be able to continue the long standing positive reputation the AT LAST program has within the community, as the Director of the Sound Sailors program at his alma mater, Manorhaven Elementary School, this summer. He looks forward to working with staff members, parents and campers to create a fun and safe camp experience.
PWCC Annual Reception in Honor of Barbara Goldstein
The Port Washington Children’s Center annual reception was held on March 11 at the Swan Club. This year PWCC celebrated the life of Barbara Goldstein, a past president of the Center and a uniting force behind the creation of the Landmark on Main Street as a community center.
Arlene Labenson gave a moving tribute to her dear friend Barbara’s lifelong passion for affordable child care on Long Island, and Barbara’s husband Dan Goldstein announced a generous scholarship grant to the Center in Barbara’s name. PWCC Executive Director Donna Preminger highlighted the Center’s many programs and told a moving story about a family helped by the scholarship funds. Warren Schein added his humor to the live auction, and dance music was provided by Only One Joe.
The PWCC Board wishes to thank the many local merchants and friends who donated goods for the auction, as well as the many families who bid on the items and all of those who made contributions to the scroll of honor. Proceeds from this event support the many programs of the Port Washington Children’s Center and provide scholarships to families in need, helping to provide safe affordable childcare for Port’s working families. The Center’s programs include toddler through pre-K full-day classes, KidsPort after school programs for children up to 6th grade, plus after school enrichment classes at Daly School and the ATLAST summer camp. For more information about the Center please contact Donna Preminger, PWCC Executive Director at 883-4864.
